After being rejected by both the Parks Board and the Design Review Committee, members of the Post appeared before the Canfield City Council on August 9, 2023 to make the case for our "Thank You Volunteers and Donors" sign that was planned to be erected along the walkway to the Veterans Plaza. The City Council is the final approving authority. Accompanying the Post members was Leo Connelly, Commander of the Ohio Department of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Post Commander Duffett, Past Commander Kubitza, Connelly and Acting City Manager/Police Chief Colucci all spoke eloquently on the beauty of the Plaza and the need to recognize those whose contribution if money, time and services made the project a reality. On a razor thin 3-2 vote, the sign was approved and on August 11th, members of the Post along with Jon Ulicney erected the frame; and on August 12th, the sign was completed. The pictures below show the work being done.
